Founded in 1894, ASHRAE is the premier international society for the advancement of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation sciences. With over 150 individual chapters, ASHRAE sets the standards and funds research and promotion among the HVAC&R industry. Flow Tech, Inc. is proud member of the international society and is happy to have several employees as individual Connecticut chapter members, some of which hold office on the board. The Connecticut chapter is one of ASHRAE’s oldest chapters, dating back to June 1940. In recent years, the CT Chapter has hosted a golf outing every Spring. This past Spring was no different than the last and we’re happy to report that it was a successful event!
This year’s outing was held on May 22, 2015. Initially the committee was slightly worried about competing with the Memorial Day holiday weekend, but it ended up working out in the chapter’s favor. The event was hosted at Tower Ridge Country Club in Simsbury, CT from 10 AM to 6 PM. Almost 100 people participated on that beautiful, but blustery Spring day. Participants could sign up as a single player, or as a foursome for the scramble-style tournament. Players got to take advantage of an open grill for lunch, as well as, an open cart for beverages.
Tee sponsorships were also available for any company/vendor that wanted a little more brand exposure. Flow Tech took full advantage of this opportunity – we sponsored the 12th hole with a hole-in-one competition! Each participant was automatically entered into the contest. If a contestant got a hole-in-one at this par 3, they’d win a 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible! Unfortunately, no one got a hole in one and therefore, didn’t win the car. We didn’t let that get spirits down though. We ramped up players’ energy by selling raffle tickets for $20 and arms length, as well as, $5 tickets to get on the green at our hole. If you got on the green you had a chance to win a TV. We ‘set-up camp” so to speak; especially because we provided snacks and beer for each player upon arrival to hole 12.
At the close of the outing came dinner and awards. The Tower Ridge staff did an excellent job with the spread. Dinner was served buffet style and was delicious. Raffle winners were announced as players mingled and networked. This was truly an event to remember and kicked-off the season just right.
