A Year in Review – Flow Tech’s Recap of 2017

Although it’s the end of January, the excitement and hopefulness of the new year are still upon us. We didn’t want our customers and followers to miss out on our traditional, Year in A Glance Recap. So, we thought it better to post a little later than not at all. As you think about the future and what 2018 has in store please enjoy a recap of what 2017 brought Flow Tech…

Bill Landry was technically hired in late 2016, however, he became fully trained and vested in 2017, and therefore wasn’t included in our 2016 recap. Bill joined our Service Department as a Field Service Technician. He focuses more on the facility side of our business providing service and preventative maintenance for ABB, Air Monitor, Corp., Aircuity and Phoenix Controls.

Larry Scola was hired in June of 2017 as a Sales Engineer. He joined our team to tackle ABB variable frequency drive sales within New England’s water and wastewater industry. Prior to 2016, Flow Tech covered Western Massachusetts and Connecticut sales for the water and wastewater market. Larry focuses his efforts from Eastern MA to Maine.

Although temporary, last year brought another new hire to Flow Tech. Danielle Horan became our first Marketing Intern last spring and worked through the end of the summer. She was a great asset to Flow Tech, especially to our Marketing Director. Danielle helped maintain our social media and digital presence throughout the summer, took part in strategizing for the 4th Annual Flowtoberfest, and aided with the planning and execution of several industry association events. At the end of the summer, Danielle returned to Wheelock College where she graduated in December 2017. We’re happy to report she found a job and remains in the AEC industry working for a firm in Boston, MA.

Our territory expansion for our Water/Wastewater Division went into full effect. As previously stated, aside from representing ABB variable frequency drives for water and wastewater applications in Connecticut and Western MA, in 2017 we could market and sell within all of New England! With this expansion came Larry Scola, increased advertising efforts and a greater involvement with industry tradeshows, conferences and association meetings.

In the late summer/early fall of last year, we began representation of a new manufacturer to the Flow Tech line card. SecureAire is the only particle control company in the air purification and filtration marketplace. This product is ideal for operating and clean room environments offering a 96.4% improvement in peak particle counts for operating rooms. Without their technology of controlling an environment’s electromagnetic field, an airflow transport mechanism can only remove approximately 2% of particles by volume from the occupied space. SecureAire’s technology coupled with some of our other products, such as Steril-Aire and Aircuity, create a very efficient and healthy medical environment.

SecureAire provides exceptional particle control in healthcare settings.

Awards & Recognition

During the 2017 Aircuity National Sales Meeting in Orlando, FL, we were presented with the 2016 Greatest Sales Growth Award. At this meeting, Aircuity also introduced Aircuity 2.0 to its channel partners. Luckily, because of the release and additional information, Flow Tech had a strong presence at the meeting to proudly accept the award.

Our knowledgeable sales team and experienced service department helped us get a lot of projects in 2017. Below are just a few of the highlights…

MK Plastics

Henkel Stamford

Henkel, a German-based consumer products company, officially moved 425 employees to its new North American consumer goods headquarters in Samford, CT in the late summer of 2017. Flow Tech was very happy to be a part of this downtown Stamford-based 155,000 square foot, 3-floor building project located at 200 Elm Street. We happily provided ABB variable frequency drives (VFDs), Phoenix Controls valves, and MK Plastics exhaust fans.

Cambridge King Open School

Our Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) and facility monitoring system, Aircuity will be included on the new King Open and Cambridge Street Upper Schools & Community Complex Project. This anticipated Net Zero project is to include the redesign of four new upper school campuses serving students in grades 6 to 8. Construction is still underway and not expected to be completed until July 2019.

VA Connecticut Healthcare System: West Haven Campus

The VA was founded to fulfill President Lincoln’s promise, “To care for him who shall borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan” by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s veterans. Flow Tech is happy to keep the VA running safely and efficiently for our nation’s veterans. We were involved in several renovations and facility upgrade/update projects this year at the West Haven campus. On those projects, we had ABB VFDs, Air Monitor Corp. airflow stations, Twin City Fans, and completed a lot of service work and/or installation.

All in all, 2017 was an eventful and successful year for Flow Tech. We hope to keep the momentum going and continue to take our sales, service and customer experience from good to great in 2018!
