Negative Pressurization Exhaust Fans
The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is tasked with implementing Alternate Care Sites across the country for COVID-19. These Alternate Care Sites are made up of several Self-Contained Isolation Units (SCIUs). SCIUs will most likely be constructed throughout the country in convention centers, hotels, dormitories, and other suitable indoor spaces. Each room will require a fan to negatively pressurize the space. This means, when a door is open to a contaminated room, all the particulates will remain in the room and not spread to “clean” areas. The spread of novel coronavirus from person-to-person is thought to occur mainly via respiratory droplet nuclei produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
