Dashing Through the Snow to the Flow Tech Holiday Party

Happy Winter Solstice! Seeing that it’s the first day of winter can only mean one thing – holiday celebrations are in full effect. Some companies choose to wait until after the new year to host their corporate get-togethers, but not at Flow Tech. We like to get the celebration started early and keep it going right before we break for Christmas. Today’s post offers a recap and pictures of this year’s holiday festivities…

Our holiday party was hosted on Saturday, December 9, 2017, and our Marketing Director couldn’t have planned the invitation theme (shown as header image) any better as guests were literally dashing through the snow to the Flow Tech Holiday party. The snow did hinder the party’s attendance but luckily the remaining 26 guests made it to the Hartford Canoe Club (HCC) safely. This was our second year at this venue and we still loved it. We do like to switch up the venue every couple years and we will be looking for a new venue for next year’s party, however, we strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a potential corporate function space.

The staff at the HCC couldn’t have been more professional or friendlier. They helped create an atmosphere that made you feel you were in a rustic hunting lodge. Set on the Connecticut River in East Hartford, their glassed-in porch provided a beautiful scene of snow falling over the river. They also do a tremendous job of decorating the facility including individual table centerpieces. The holiday decor was on point but the main star of the show was definitely the menu.

Jennifer Krascella, the HCC’s Chef and Manager met with Nichole Petersen earlier this summer to get an idea of what the Flow Tech crew was looking for out of their holiday meal. She ended up creating a delicious 4-course meal for us along with several passed hors d’ oeuvres served during cocktail hour. Click to view the 2017 holiday party menu.

Rich's holiday performance

Rich giving his holiday performance.

Keeping with tradition, Rich Harper did his annual performance. This year he changed the lyrics of popular holiday songs to incorporate each employee and their role at Flow Tech. He then sang the new songs to the original tunes. It was very creative and thoughtful but let’s just don’t quit your day job, Rich! Also back again was Nichole Petersen’s slideshow. This fall Flow Tech had new company pictures and headshots taken and this was the perfect night to reveal them to the staff and significant others. Nichole also incorporated pictures of Flow Tech’s employees from various industry events over the past year and Flowtoberfest. The slideshow concluded with a hilarious blooper and outtake reel including pictures of Rich on vacation thanks to his wife Patti. We’d love to share it with you but only those blessed enough to work at Flow Tech get that privilege.

HCC Christmas Tree

The HCC does a great job with their tree every year!

Yesterday we continued the holiday fun with our 4th annual holiday grab bag. Per usual we hosted the event at Flow Tech in our conference room. Holiday spirits, appetizers and cookies were served for everyone to enjoy. We had a total of 12 participants this year. As holiday music provided excellent background, employees picked and unwrapped gifts and decided whether or not they wanted to steal a gift from a co-worker that already took their turn. The most popularly traded items this year were Treehouse Beer, the book, Extreme Ownership: How Us Navy SEALS Lead Win and the adult party game, What do you Meme?

Newly introduced this year was a friendly game of LCR. After the gift swap concluded everyone broke out their dollar bills for some good old fashion gambling. The big winners were Mike Davis, then Andrew Marques and Nichole Petersen won the smallest pot. Everyone really enjoyed this new addition.

Everyone playing LCR.

We missed those who couldn’t make it to either function but we definitely had a great time spreading holiday cheer. It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone.
