The International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories, or I²SL, is devoted to the principles of sustainable laboratories and related high-technology facilities, from design to engineering to operation. Through worldwide partnerships and the exchange of technical expertise, I2SL works to encourage the development of high-tech facilities that address the rapid pace of science, medicine, research, and development in an ever-changing and dynamic environment.

 

The I²SL Annual Conference

The time has come for the 2017 I2SL Annual Conference! Each year, the event highlights recent advancements in laboratory efficiency and performance and provides attendees with a unique forum for information exchange and education. There will be workshops, technical presentations, symposia, roundtable discussions, exhibits, and local tours highlighting the latest in sustainable laboratory, data center, hospital, and related high-tech facility innovations. This is a great opportunity for you to attend the leading international conference and meet with owners, EH&S officials, facility managers, designers, and engineers from all around the world!

Aircuity at the 2017 I²SL Annual Conference

Meet Aircuity’s Founder

During the I²SL Conference, you will also have the opportunity to meet and learn from the founder of Aircuity, Gordon Sharp! With over 25 years of entrepreneurial experience, he holds more than 25 U.S. patents in the fields of energy efficiency and laboratory controls. Sharp’s recently published article, “Reducing Laboratory Building Energy Use”, addresses the challenges of reducing facility energy use while also meeting air ventilation demands.

Sharp is currently the vice president of the Board of Directors of I2SL, the nonprofit foundation that hosts the I2SL Annual Conference. This year, he will be hosting a pre-conference training session, Evaluate the Savings and Return on Investment (ROI) of Laboratory Energy Savings Strategies, on Sunday, October 15th. M.K. Plastics at the 2017 I²SL Annual Conference

M.K. Plastics, our corrosion-resistant exhaust systems manufacturer is also exhibiting and presenting during the show. We invite you to visit them at booth #21. We recommend visiting them on Monday, October 16th at 12:30 PM when a special presentation will be given by Doug Ross. This technical session will discuss the appropriate method for venting perchloric acid fume hoods and the following topic will be covered during the session:

  • Fume Hood requirements as per ACGIH Guidelines
  • Ductwork Design as per NFPA 45 standard & ACGIH Guidelines
  • Exhaust Fan Design as per CRC Handbook of Laboratory Safety. 4th Edition, 1995 & ACGIH Guidelines

Plastics will also have an operational twin AxiJet High Plume Exhaust fan in operation demonstrating their Lead Lag program and the fan control aspects we are able to achieve.

 

Phoenix Controls at the 2017 I²SL Annual Conference

Our critical airflow control systems manufacturer, Phoenix Controls, will also be exhibiting during this year’s show. They will be located two booths down from Aircuity at booth #27. Make sure to take some time and stop by their booth to hear about the airflow control solutions they have for research environments, wet labs, life science facilities and more!
