Flowtoberfest 2017 was a great success and we’d like to thank everyone again who made it out to the event. We also wanted to provide a little more information about the vendors and companies that we solicit and/or hire to help make the event memorable and fun for our customers and guests.
Location, Location, Location
This year, Flowtoberfest was hosted at Waypoint Distillery in Bloomfield, CT. The beauty of choosing Waypoint as the venue was that they offered us a larger space than we’ve had in the past while keeping the event close to Flow Tech, and without breaking the budget. They currently distill 5 spirits, Wintonbury Gin, Labrador Noon Vodka, Man Overboard Spiced Rum, Special Batch Whiskey and Labrador Noon Spicy XIII, which was another plus because we were able to provide our guests with a larger variety of beverages to sample all night. This included our signature sangrias featuring their vodka and rum. We encourage you to visit their tasting room, or host your own event there – they even do weddings! Want to shout out to them on social media? Mention #Waypoint @Drinkwaypoint.
On Our Wurst Behavior
We’ve had the pleasure of working with the Republic Gastro Pub as the Flowtoberfest caterer for the past 4 years now! They are always willing to tailor the menu to how we like it – with a lot of Oktoberfest favorites like sausages, wursts, pretzels, and beer cheese! Typically their menu consists of fresh local ingredients used to create delicious American style cuisine. From small bites and charcuterie boards to in between the buns and Beef Stroganoff, they have something for everyone. Their Head Chef, Steven Wolf was just nominated for CT’s 2017 Chef of the year, which only solidifies selecting them as our caterer. We encourage you to go visit them at one of their two locations, At the Linden, Hartford, CT and in Bloomfield, CT. The Republic is part of the MRG Restaurant Group. Make sure to follow them on Facebook or Instagram too!
Adult Beverages Anyone?
Aside from the spirit samples and sangria, beer samples were also offered at the 2017 Flowtoberfest. As many of you know, in the past we’ve hosted Flowtoberfest at the Thomas Hooker Brewery, however, this year we wanted to offer our guests a different setting. That didn’t mean that we didn’t want to sample their delicious beer varieties. Some of the beer at this year’s event was provided by Hooker. We encourage you to visit their Brewery in Bloomfield, CT or their new Colt Tap Room in Hartford, CT. Make sure to follow them on twitter, @HookerBeer!
A Picture Lasts a Lifetime
In 2015, we were lucky enough to book April Smith of April A. Photography as the event photographer. We’re always thrilled to see the results after each year’s party. April does a great job of blending in, but she isn’t afraid to ask for a funny pose either. April specializes in landscapes/wildlife, architecture, portraits, and events. In early October we had her come to Flow Tech to take updated company photos and head shots. We’re waiting on the final proofs, but what we’ve seen is very impressive! With the holidays coming up, we encourage you to give her a call for family pictures or those special moments you want captured. Be sure to follow April on Facebook and Flickr and visit her website, you may see some familiar faces.
Vodka – the Original Networking Tool
Typically Nichole Petersen handles the Flowtoberfest decor but this year she called in a little help from a friend. Wanting to elevate her guests’ experience and add some humor to the party, Nichole hired Ava Rodgrigues of Party Your World for the photo props and Flowtoberfest banner. Together they came up with some pretty entertaining sayings and photo props. Party Your World is a party shop on Etsy specializing in custom and personalized decorations for every type of celebration. Whether you’re looking for a “Happy Birthday” banner personalized with a name and age, or bridal shower centerpieces in your wedding colors, they can make just about anything you can dream up to make your celebration special. We encourage you to follow Party Your Wold on Facebook and Pinterest.
Setting the Mood
What’s a party without some mood music? Music is very powerful and can influence the behavior of others. In our case, we wanted to influence them to have fun and relax. Mission accomplished! Our very own Evan Benoit and Kevin Wixom created our Flowtoberfest playlist using Spotify, however, the playlist would not have been heard had it not been for the sound system. We used Rockwell Communications out of East Hartford, CT for our AV rental needs. Be sure to check them out as their pricing is reasonable and they’re great to work with!
My Lederhosen Are in the Wash
Last year we decided that Flow Tech’s employees needed to be easily identified during the event. We thought creating an official event T-Shirt would be a fun way to distinguish us from other guests. They also made desirable prizes. Artisan Ink out of Manchester, CT was recommended to us by Hooker brewery last year. We enjoyed working with Rob and the shirts came out great so we decided to use them again for this year’s shirts which were an even bigger success than last year’s. Check them out on Facebook!
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
Everyone loves to win, especially when its a Restaurant Gift card or Bose Bluetooth Speaker. Each year we solicit our manufacturers for raffle prize contributions. This year, we got the biggest show of support and were able to offer a variety of raffle prizes to our guests. We would like to recognize the following companies for their support at this year’s Flowtoberfest.
Unfortunately, not everyone can win a raffle prize but we still want everyone to leave with something. This year’s party favors went with the theme of the venue and were a Flowtoberfest-branded rocks glass. Guests can now sip their favorite beverage and think of the great time they had with us. Discount Mugs is the company that we ordered from and we’ve used them for previous Flowtoberfests too. We’ve found their lead time is quicker than most and their pricing is better than most. Don’t let their name fool you though, they offer a wide variety of customized branded merchandise. Be sure to check them out too!
We hope you enjoyed getting to know more about the people and companies that helped Flowtoberfest 2017 be a fun and successful event for us and our guests. Feel free to reach out to Nichole Petersen if you’d like specific contact information for any of the above mentioned. Don’t forget to check out our website and follow us on social media: Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and YouTube.
