You may know Flow Tech for our excellent customer service, experienced service technicians, ABB VFDs, or many other engineered systems, but a lesser known area of expertise is our celebratory skills. Over the course of the year we come together as a company to celebrate various occasions and the most recent being our holiday gift swap. Today’s post provides a recap of how we celebrated the holiday season.
Our kickoff to the holiday season was our Annual Company Party hosted on Saturday, December 8, 2018. The venue was Butchers and Bakers in Farmington, CT. The facility provided a perfect private space for 47 of us. This was actually the biggest turnout we’ve had for a holiday party with only 2 employees and their spouses unable to attend.
The “Jingle and Mingle” theme was incorporated throughout the space with the decor and table centerpieces and really set the tone. Guests enjoyed cocktails and catching up as the chatted over hors d’ouerves. Once everyone was seated Flow Tech President, Rich Harper treated everyone to a poem. Every year Rich incorporates all the employees into a song or poem and what they do at Flow Tech. This year he even worked some of the spouses into the poem. It’s always a real treat.
After the entertainment everyone enjoyed a 3-course meal with a choice of soup, salad or garlic bread for the first course. Chimichurri chicken, pan-seared salmon or New York strip steak as the main entrees and cheesecake, chocolate torte or berry sorbet as the dessert. The food was delicious and everyone left happy. On their way out guests took the party favors (small cutting board and cookie cutters) which provided a fun play on the Butchers and Bakers name.
Some Flow Techians were not ready to depart and headed downstairs to the restaurant’s main bar for a night cap. Many laughs and jokes were shared over the night. It was great to connect with long-time employees and get to know some of the newer ones and their spouses.
The celebrating didn’t stop with the Annual holiday party. Friday, December 14, 2018, was the date of our Annual Gift Swap. Employees were invited to a lunch catered by the Cove Deli (same caterer as Flowtoberfest). Chicken Parmesean, pasta, salad, garlic bread and dessert were provided for everyone to enjoy. Thirteen employees, 1 dog and a baby enjoyed the celebration and swapped gifts in a grab bag/Yankee Swap/White Elephant-type fashion.
The afternoon was a success. To add a little humor to the event Nichole Petersen, Director of Marketing, showed the “Elf Yourself” videos she created of everyone. They were a big hit and can be viewed below.
We had a fun time celebrating the magic of the season. We missed those who couldn’t make it to either function but we definitely had a great time jingling and mingling. It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone.
