Meet Our HVAC Manufacturers – Part 1

As an industry-leader in providing energy-efficient and state-of-the-art HVAC equipment and systems, we continuously strive to not only provide our customers with the best service and experience but the best products as well. For this reason, we represent only the highest quality manufacturers. Although we work on a territory-based model, we don’t just become a manufacturer’s representative because they don’t already have someone assigned to that region, or because there is a need within the market. We represent a manufacturer and their product line(s) if, and only if, we believe in their products and agree with their customer service principles.

With that said, we thought it would be a good idea to introduce you to the manufacturers we work with, share their history, and inform you of their product lines we carry. Currently, we represent 15 manufacturers and to avoid running the risk of showing favoritism we’ll proceed with introductions in alphabetical order. Here’s the lineup…

It’s no surprise if this manufacturer’s name rings a bell. You may not know exactly what it is they do, which is probably because they do everything! Well, maybe not everything, but as a whole, ABB is a global leader in power and automated technologies. Although ABB is based in Zurich, Switzerland, it has 5 business divisions and numerous brands and products across multiple continents and throughout 100 countries.

ABB’s history spans over 120 years, but its current form was created in 1988. Today ABB employs 150,000 people. They attribute their success to having a strong research and development focus. Even in times of low market conditions, ABB always invested in their R&D department.

As a result, they have had a long track record of innovation and technology. Today, ABB stands as the largest supplier of industrial motors and drives, the largest provider of generators to the wind industry, and the largest supplier of power grids worldwide. We’re proud to call them our variable frequency drive (VFD) manufacturer! We sell ABB’s HVAC VFDs throughout Connecticut and Western MA and have recently been granted all of New England for their water/wastewater drives.

Air Enterprises (AE) is the leader in custom engineered air handling and energy efficient solutions for commercial, industrial, institutional and mission critical needs. Incorporated in 1964 by founder Donald L. Glaser, AE has been providing industry-driven, all-aluminum air-handling solutions for 50 years. As of June 1, 2017, AE was acquired by Hickok Incorporated, a publicly traded holding company. Hickok recognizes the success of the Akron, OH-base company and plans to let Air Enterprises continue supporting over 14 markets with its air-handling products.

Air Enterprises can be broken down into four main product segments, KYOTOCOOLING®, SiteBilt®, FactoryBilt®, and their newest THERMODRY®. We work with AE strictly on their air-handling unit divisions, SiteBilt® and FactoryBilt®. One of the best things about Air Enterprises is that each of their units comes with a 40-year warranty and undergoes rigorous leak testing.

Founded in 1967, Air Monitor Corporation (AMC) is a premier manufacturer of flow measurement products. Since it’s birth AMC has since been aquired by parent company ONICON, Inc. The AMC division employees 70 people over four locations. Corporate headquarters, including the company-owned 42,000 sq. ft. manufacturing center, sales, marketing and business development are located in Santa Rosa, CA. The Western Sales office is also located in California but in Sacramento. Finally, there are Eastern Sales offices in Swannanoa and Wallace, North Carolina.

AMC is a recognized leader in providing equipment designed to measure and control airflow and space pressurization. From fan tracking and laboratory room pressurization to fume hood monitoring and control, AMC has a variety of product lines available to meet the critical needs of a facilities’ HVAC airflow operation. We happily rely on Air Monitor Corp. to supply us with their accurate airflow stations and probes.

Aircuity is one of our youngest manufacturers. Founded in 2000, Aircuity derived from the management of Phoenix Controls Corporation. Located in Newton, MA, Aircuity has sales channel partners throughout North America, including the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, too. They have channel partners in fourteen other countries as well.

emb-papst, Inc. has offices in major cities throughout North America but chose Farmington, CT to call home to its North American Headquarters. They are the world’s leading source for engineered air movement solutions serving markets including agriculture, HVAC&R, appliance, industrial, lighting, IT/telecom, medical, transportation and more! They have over 90,000 sq. ft. of climate-controlled warehousing and boast real-time inventory transactions and customized warehousing to meet the customers’ requirements.

ebm-papst offers many types of technologies and products but Flow Tech specializes in the application and retrofit of electronically commutated (EC) plenum fans for air-handling unit applications and EC propeller fans for condensing units and wall intake/exhaust applications. We are happy to provide ebm-papst’s award-winning EC technology to our customers.

As I’m sure you have guessed, Heat Pipe Technology, Inc. is our heat pipe manufacturer and was founded in 1983 with a grant from the Department of Energy for a project to begin research on new uses for heat pipe technology. By 2009 they were acquired by and are now a subsidiary of MiTek® – a Berkshire Hathaway company. HPT operates with a network of over 70 representatives and licenses in North America, South America, Europe, The Middle East, Asia and Australia. Although HPT is a true global operator, they still operate in the US and manufacture in Tampa, FL.

Today they are considered the innovation leader in energy recovery and dehumidification systems for commercial applications around the globe. Their heat pipes save energy and dramatically reduce heating and cooling costs. Employing the very latest in passive heat transfer technology, HPT designs and supplies the core systems to the world’s leading commercial air-handling equipment manufacturers.
